Browsing Posts in AdSense

You can make money online with Google Adsense by writing less content. The key is having the right amount of content. Content is still king but sometimes it’s better to be the queen. Here’s a case study in which I am making money off a site with minimal content.

I came across a coupon for $1 .com’s at Godaddy (limit one). These coupons turn up once in a while and I never hesitate to buy a site because it’s almost impossible to not make your $1 back even with minimal content. At the very least I could sell the site for 20 times that based on a solid domain name alone. I quickly created the site in WordPress and set up the theme and the 15 pages I wanted for the site. I knew based on the subject of the site that 15 would cover all possible topics and I would go into detail on subtopics on each page.

I set up each page with the headings and page title so I had a basic framework for what I would be doing with the site. I threw some general keywords around in the sidebar and footer (things like “review”, “buy”, “where to buy”, etc). Then I wrote the content for the first page. I linked to it from some of my other sites and did a few directory and search engine submissions- very minimal link building. Then a few things came up with some of my other sites and I had no time/interest to complete the site. But something interestingly unexpected started to happen.

Hey guys! Sorry for the lack of blog posts. I really could not think of anything interesting to blog about because instead of experimenting with various methods I actually sat down and worked for a bit. Recently I’ve been doing a lot of CPA marketing  and realised that CPA getaways are still one of my favorite methods. After numerous experiments with home made getaways I kept on coming back to CPAlead. Let me quickly explain how CPAlead works. CPA getaway is basically a lock for your content. In order o unlock the content user must first complete a survey. After joining CPAlead you will be able to generate a bit of code you can copy and paste into the page you need to protect. The only way users will then be able to access that page is by completing a CPA offer and therefore making you $1 to $3. The offers actually vary between $0.20 and $20 but I suggest you disable all the low paying ones and stick to $1 to $3 offers for maximum revenue.

So how exactly can you make money with CPAlead you may ask? This is the best part. CPAlead allows you to use their getaway on pretty much every website but adult. There are millions of people online constantly looking for free stuff ranging from things they can download such as ebooks and movies to various invites and coupon codes. I used my old marketing ebooks a few times and simply let everyone download a free copy via my getaway. I hit around $120 the first day and this is when I realized how much money can be made with CPA getaways.

Now to the challenge. From the first of June I will start from scratch and work 4 hours per day finding various free things people want using Google trends, creating getaways and promoting them on various popular websites related to the things I promote. I think it should not be long before I hit my first $100 day but lets just keep it at $100 meanwhile because that seems to be the number most people are after. $0 to $100/day with in 30 days. Can I do it? Keep an eye on my future updates.

Actually, lets get Twitter involved! It would be easier for me to post smaller updates and daily earnings on there. You can follow me here.

Last night I ended up on an interesting website. I will not be linking to it because quite frankly the content itself was on the verge of illegal, nevertheless what I did find interesting was their layout. The page was divided into two halves by a big rectangle Adsense unit. So in order to get from the header to the main body you would have to scroll past this big rectangle. This would not be a problem if you were using a regular PC however when using an iPhone the only way to get to the main content is to actually click on the Adsense block and push it up. Anyone with poor coordination or shaky hands is very likely to slip and give the website owner a click. See it in action here where the Adsense unit is being represented by an image.

Talking about iPhone layouts I have just installed a plugin for this blog which detects iPhone users and displays a friendlier theme instead. Just fire up your iPhone and check it out for yourself. The post images might be screwing things up a little bit but I will be fixing that shortly.

Finally a lot of you have been wondering why I had a curious.txt rapidshare link in my footer. Rapidshare limits the number of downloads to 10 on regular accounts and I was surprised that the download limit has been reached within the first few hours of me adding that like, even though the link was very small and hidden in my footer. How did you even notice it? To your disappointment the actual text file did not mean anything. What I discovered is that all these new emerging Rapidshare search engines would normally go around and index any page containing a Rapidshare link. It took a while for my pages to get indexed by Google and then for all those search sites to scrap Google for content but eventually I started to receive hits from these search engines. Every time somebody searched for “marketing” or “seo” they were sent here even though they were only looking to download something marketing related.

Whenever I see a page that clearly violates Google AdSense TOS I tend to ignore it. To me, I’m better of working on my own websites rather than going around grassing people up. A friend of mine on the other hand is a big AdWords advertiser and he can’t stand people getting away with click fraud, which is more than understandable.

One day he ended up on some website that asked people to click on their AdSense ads. Outraged, he contacted the AdSense advertisers who appeared on these ads by entering the url in his browser and informed them about the click fraud. Advertisers in their turn thanked him for the warning and went ahead to complain to Google and ask for a refund. Turns out one of the guys has actually lost thousands of dollars with that particular campaign. Soon they have received a full refund from Google. A friend of mine was then contacted by one of these guys and was offered $1000 as a thank you for saving the company a lot of money.

Apparently a few guys go around doing this full time and earn good money. I assume they are a bit more shameless and actually ask for that “thank you”.
